Built for Grit — MoveStrong Product Launch
Overview
MoveStrong needed launch imagery for the Dynabell and other products. The photography had to do what the product does: work harder than it looks like it should. I led creative direction end-to-end — concept, photographer selection, shot list, and post-production — for a campaign built to carry the launch across web, social, and paid.
“A product built for grit doesn't get a clean, white-backdrop shoot.”
The Dynabell is a tool for people who train hard, not people who pose. Every creative decision — location, lighting, cast — was built around that one idea: show the strength, not just the product.
EXECUTION
I selected photographer Jarrett Gaza for his ability to shoot athletes with texture and intensity rather than polish, then built the shot list around raw, industrial backdrops — exposed brick, weathered concrete, low ambient light — that read as gym-adjacent without looking like a gym. Real athletes were cast and directed through dynamic, mid-movement poses (overhead press, front rack, tricep extension) instead of static product-in-hand shots, so the Dynabell reads as functional equipment in use, not a still life. Post-production held onto the grit — deep shadows, desaturated tone, minimal retouching — so the images never lost the edge the concept was built on.
“A product built to be used hard shouldn't be photographed soft.”
moveStrong imagery doesn't look like a product photo.
It looks like a workout.
The final imagery launched across MoveStrong's website, social channels, and paid ad creative, giving the product a consistent, high-intensity visual identity from day one rather than the generic catalog look most fitness hardware launches with.
The Outcome
“Customers weren't looking at a stock photo of a stranger. They were looking at the person who'd help them pick the right equipment.”
The campaign gave Dane Fitness a photography library that doubled as a trust signal — proof that the staff recommending and servicing equipment actually uses it, ready to deploy across social, print, and in-store marketing.
